In this city, there is a “stick here, stick there” love story…
The story starts from a girl whose type is common throughout Asia.
This type of girl is called “post-it note girl.” She is plain, simple, has simple wishes, has never been a somebody and doesn’t aspire to be a somebody. They have small functionalities, but are indispensable; like a post-it note that can be torn away easily, inconspicuous and ordinary, but you must have her around you! A “luxury cruise” journey caused this ordinary girl to encounter the most extraordinary event in history.
Since young, Xin Yi has been afraid that people would not like her and so she tries her best to be nice to be people. As long as someone gives her a little response, then she would fall in love with that person very easily. Everyone calls her a post-it note girl. Because whenever someone needs her, they can easily call on her but if they don’t need her, they can just carelessly throw her aside and it wouldn’t matter. Yet she is a fool who really treasures relationships and her weak-willed personality often causes her to soften up during the times when she needs to make a firm decision. One day, in order to win back her flirtatious boyfriend, Gucci, she wasted a large sum of money for a journey on a love cruise. Unexpectedly, she accidentally goes into the wrong room. When she wakes up, she is startled to discover that she had a one night stand with a total stranger. Moreover, she finds out that her boyfriend cheated on her and hooked up with a rich widow. He dumps her causing her to be dealt with a severe blow.
One month later, when Xin Yi sees the result from the pregnancy test kit, she regrets not jumping into the ocean when she was on the ship. A 25 year old employee from a law firm, because of a lousy man, she has to bear a debt of two hundred thousand dollars and carry the child of an unknown man. This has got to be the most ironic joke in the world. She takes a week’s leave from her company and prepares to return to her home town “Jiang Mu Island” to think over what she should do.
The stranger in bed that day is called Ji Cun Xi. He is every girl’s ideal Prince Charming. He is rich and handsome, young and talented. When he runs into the ordinary office girl, Chen Xin Yi, he doesn’t know if this is the start of his troubles or the beginning of his happiness.
Because of the Ji family’s heredity illness, there are very few males in each generation. Up until now, there is only one male heir for the past nine generations. This causes the matriarch of the family, Grandma Zhen Zhu, to lose sleep with worry as she fears that this tiny family flame could very easily be extinguished if they are not careful! Grandma wishes with all her heart that her grandson, Ji Cun Xin could be like the heirs of other rich families and have many women. Unfortunately, this grandson of hers is decent and respects his body. One day, Grandma accidentally finds out that Xin Yi is carrying Cun Xi’s baby. Perhaps, it is a blessing from the Ji family’s ancestors as she never expected that the Heavens will bestow upon her a “little golden great grandchild.” As a result, Grandma insists that Cun Xi marry Xin Yi no matter what. This way, the day when she dies, she can face the Ji family’s ancestors.
As a result, Grandma threatens to call Cun Xi’s girlfriend of three years and tell her everything if he doesn’t marry Xin Yi. Being “forced” into this marriage, Cun Xi has no choice but to marry Xin Yi so as to fulfill Grandma’s wish in this life. But Cun Xi discovers that he doesn’t want to face the reality of his marriage and couldn’t decide whether he should run away at the last minute or gather up his courage to take responsibility of the consequences. At this time, he suddenly finds out that under Grandma’s request, they must date and get into a love relationship.
Actually Cun Xi has a ballet dancer girlfriend of three years, Anna. He had proposed to her many times before but was always turned down each time. Yet Cun Xi has continued to quietly wait for her, wait for Anna to give up everything and accept his marriage proposal. For the sake of her career, Anna doesn’t want to get married and now he accidentally caused Xin Yi to become pregnant. Fortunately, Anna is performing overseas which would give him a chance to hide this mixed-up affair. However, without his Grandma knowing, Cun Xi and Xin Yi signed a prenuptial contract which states that they would have a divorce after the baby is born. Cun Xi promises to give Xin Yi a sum of money and then after that, they would have nothing to do with each other. For her baby’s future, Xin Yi agrees after giving it some careful consideration. Cun Xi’s plan is that, after Xin Yi gives birth to the baby and Anna returns back to the country after her performances are completed, he and Xin Yi’s contract would be just ending and he can resume his relationship with Anna.
The unknowing Xin Yi moves into Cun Xi’s house and begins to learn how to get along with Cun Xin. Two strangers from being unable to adapt in the beginning, learns how to get used to each other’s existence. It is a very subtle change of these two people who lives under the same roof who has nothing to do with each other, slowly starts interacting due to the trivial matters that are happening in their lives. Under Grandma’s request, Xin Yi moves into Cun Xi’s bedroom and Cun Xi makes up an excuse to move into the guest room to sleep. Yet, he slowly discovers that he doesn’t like the loneliness of sleeping alone and he would often go back to his room in the middle of the night. As time passes, sleeping with someone by his side becomes a habit. Cun Xi, who doesn’t like to return home to have dinner, starts to come home regularly and Cun Xi, who vows never to help in anything, also starts to buy wallpaper for the baby’s room and children’s toys.
When they thought that this is what so-called happiness is, the ticking bomb, Anna, who has been kept in the dark from the whole matter, returns. Cun Xi never imagined that his unresolved relationship with Anna would hurt Xin Yi, who disappeared after leaving behind a divorce paper. He had originally thought that this would have been the best ending but Xin Yi had unknowingly taken over his heart. He swears that if he can find Xin Yi again, he would start over and pursue her. This time it wouldn’t be the way a father treats the mother of his child, but as a man treats a woman… translated by mandy |
