                 Qi Xiu (portrayed by Dylan Guo) and Mo Fan (portrayed by Michael Zhang) were originally the two brightest students in a medical institute.  Under Professor Liu’s (portrayed Li Tian Zhu) painstaking teachings, Mo Fan and Qi Xiu have continuously maintained a competitive and cooperative relationship.  During this course of events, their brotherly relationship is gradually established.  Yet all that changes with Yi Ning (portrayed by Ady An) – this woman who holds an important place in both of Qi Xiu and Mo Fan’s lives.

     Yi Ning is Professor Liu’s daughter.  Because she was born prematurely, her health has not been good.  As a result, Professor Liu pampers Yi Ning very much.  Yi Ning and Mo Fan have known each other since they were young and have been childhood playmates.  However, after the appearance of Qi Xiu, Yi Ning is not the same anymore.  Qi Xiu’s personality is not the same as Mo Fan.  He doesn’t possess the talent that Mo Fan has in the study of medicines but he is extremely hardworking and practical.  The most important thing is that he will spend the time to accompany Yi Ning to go take photographs and to listen attentively to what she has to say.  Furthermore, both having something in common (Qi Xiu’s father died early), causes Yi Ning’s heart to turn toward and depend on Qi Xiu…  Eventually, Mo Fan finds out.  He generously withdraws and gives his blessing to them.  He even goes as far as to give up the only scholarship opening to go study aboard to Qi Xiu.  However, on the eve before Qi Xiu and Yi Ning’s engagement, Yi Ning became ill.  It is an extremely rare pathological brain disease that Ni Ying has.  Mo Fan does in depth research but still couldn’t find a method that would truly cure the disease.  He tries to convince the Professor with his new bold theory.  First to allow Ni Ying to cut away the nerves that has the pathological change so that she can fall into a deep sleep and then to wait for the progress of the technology of medicine.  Even with no other choice, the Professor and Qi Xiu would not be willing to accept this theory.  Mo Fan had no choice but to convince Yi Ning to let him do the operation for her and she fell into a coma and did not awaken…  Because she has clearly written that she was doing this voluntarily before the operation and that she is willingly going to accept whatever the outcome is, she didn’t want her father to blame Mo Fan.  Yet, it is also because of this matter that Mo Fan was dismissed from the school.  He went aboard and left Yi Ning for Qi Xiu to take care…

                 Seven years later, Mo Fan returns.  From television, Mo Fan sees that during these past seven years, Qi Xiu has become a famous doctor in the surgical field.  He goes to the hospital to find Qi Xiu but Qi Xiu refuses to see him.  Not long after that, a retired foreign government official comes to Taiwan for a visit and was shot in the head.  Originally with Qi Xiu’s skills, taking out a bullet from the head is no hard task but because the patient is a Jehovah’s Witness, he cannot have a blood transfusion.  This caused an increase in the degree of difficulty for the operation.  After much consideration, Qi Xiu decides to look for Mo Fan for help.  Mo Fan happily comes forth and they both work together to solve this crisis.  However, this also attracted the attention of female reporter, Sun Qian (portrayed by Megan Lai)…
